Davidovich and Martínez surpass their premiere in Doha and Rio de Janeiro

MADRID, 20 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Alejandro Davidovich surpassed this Monday his debut in the Doha tournament, scoring for the ATP and which is played on hard court, by beating the Frenchman Constant Lestienne in two sets 6-4, 6-3, while Pedro Martínez He did the same on clay in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) against Chilean Cristian Garín (7-6, 6-4).

The Andalusian, who starts as the seventh seed in the event, started the match very well and with two ‘breaks’ he was up 4-1 and served, an advantage that he knew how to manage to win the first set despite giving up his serve and have some more trouble.

In the second, the man from Malaga repeated the script with two breaks to go up 4-0 and although Lestienne tried to react with a break, Davidovich closed his pass to the second round of a tournament with a third break where, instead, the veteran was eliminated Fernando Verdasco from Madrid, invited by the organization and who could not beat Australian Christopher O’Connell (6-1, 3-6, 6-0).

In addition, in the tournament in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), on clay, the Valencian Pedro Martínez took revenge against the Chilean Cristian Garín, who had defeated him a couple of weeks ago in Córdoba (Buenos Aires), but this time lost in a long duel of almost two and a half hours 7-6 (0), 6-4.

The Spanish player found himself behind due to an early ‘break’, but despite having a 4-1 disadvantage, he was not only able to recover it but to break again to get 5-4 and serve. The Chilean, saving a set ball, replied there and then came to have even the rest with a ball at 6-5 to win a partial that went to Alzira clearly in the ‘sudden death’ after an hour and a half.

The second set, despite an exchange of breaks, was dominated more by Martínez thanks to a second break, but Garín recovered it when the Valencian served at 5-3 to close the match. However, the Spaniard recovered and broke for the third time to get the ticket to the second round.
