David Valero prevails in the first stage of the Titan Desert Saudi Arabia

MADRID, 6 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish cyclist and Olympic medalist David Valero prevailed this Tuesday in the first stage of the NEOM Titan Desert Saudi Arabia — 109 kilometers long –, a test he attended to do “quality” training and which, for the moment, leads the first changes.

Valero, a bronze medalist in Tokyo 2020 in mountain biking, was in the lead from the start of the first stage in a group of about 10 or 15 riders who had to deal with a strong wind on the Red Sea coast.

Around kilometer 60, in an area of fine sand, Valero and the former professional cyclist Haimar Zubeldia opened a gap and went as a pair to the finish line, with victory for Valero without dispute by Zubeldia, who acknowledged that the former shot “most of the weather”. Almost 12 minutes later, the third classified, Julen Zubero, reached the finish line.

“There have been fast tracks, sandy tracks and others that are more broken. Between this and the wind, it has been very hard. But the experience has been very nice”, declared David Valero after the stage.
