David Campos proclaims himself runner-up in the elite European BTT Short Track

MADRID, 30 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish cyclist David Campos has been proclaimed this Thursday European runner-up in the elite category of MTB ‘Short Track’ after completing an extraordinary race in the European Championship that is being held in the Portuguese town of Anadia.

The biker from Almería set a strong pace from the start of the race and showed his desire to win the continental title. Campos came to lead the leading group with four cyclists, who were the ones who played for the medals.

“I have been very strong throughout the race, fighting for the jersey and for gold. The Briton has opened us about ten seconds in the penultimate lap and there I have already decided to do my race to come second and win the silver medal”, told in statements to the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation.

“I’m very happy. On Sunday, for the XCO”, declared the man from Almería, who managed to reach the finish line with a margin to celebrate his best international performance to date.

For its part, the Balearic Lucía Gómez got sixth place in the elite women’s event, a short track that has been dominated by the Swiss Blochlinger.
