Dave Canales gets a six-year deal, which is like hazard pay in the NFL.

Dave Canales is getting rich because David Tepper isn’t working well. Several news sources report that the newly hired Panthers coach will receive a six-year deal.

In the past few years, that’s what’s happened when a team has had enough coaching changes and needs to feel more stable.

As a result of firing Jim Tomsula or Chip Kelly and hiring Kyle Shanahan for six years in 2017, the 49ers were able to make a hire that would last.

They fired David Culley after one year and Lovie Smith shortly after one year, so last year they gave DeMeco Ryans a six-year deal.

In theory, the obligation to sell will keep a proprietor from acting without thinking. That being said, the Panthers’ owner is going to do what he wants, no matter what it costs him.

This is primarily about making the job more appealing to a coach who agrees to do it even though they know it might only be for a short time by increasing the pay. The bigger the buyout, the better it looks to leave early.

This is in line with a new trend in the NFL: teams are giving new coaches longer-term contracts to try to stop the regular coaching changes that have been happening in the league.

The San Francisco 49ers set a standard in 2017 when they hired Kyle Shanahan for six years. This was after going through a pair of coaches in one-and-done seasons.

This pattern kept going as the Houston Texans signed DeMeco Ryans for six years last year. David Culley and Lovie Smith were fired after only one year each.

The main goal of these longer contracts is to give everyone a sense of stability and stop owners from making hasty changes to their coaching in the future.

Reports say that the Carolina Panthers’ owner, David Tepper, has offered the team’s new mentor, Dave Canales, a six-year deal.

By offering a longer term, owners hope to give coaches more job security and attract talented people who might not want to take on an interim assignment.

But some people aren’t sure if Tepper’s buyout obligation will really stop him from making quick changes to the coaching staff.

Tepper has a history of firing football and soccer coaches quickly, which makes people doubt his ability to keep his end of a deal.

There is more financial commitment with a higher buyout clause, which does give the coach greater peace of mind and might make the job more appealing.

However, it also puts more pressure on Canales to get things done right in the first handful of years.

Tepper has said he will make changes when the team doesn’t do well, which means Canales will probably have to work faster to get the team back on track.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith says that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift don’t need to get married, and he has a good reason for this.

When asked about Howard Stern’s comment that “Travis Kelce must marry Taylor Swift” to remain popular, the 56-year-old actor reaffirmed his support for the couple on the Howard Stern Show on Tuesday, January 23.

If you ask Smith, they say that’s not true because they are successful alone as well as together.

As he talked about Kelce’s Super Bowl wins and said that he might have another one this year, he said, “He’s universally recognized to be among the greatest tight end players in the evolution of football.”

Smith then said that Kelce was “the whole package.” He then said the same thing about Swift, calling her “phenomenal” and “a great artist.”

His voice remembered going to her concert with his daughters and told Stern, “It was crazy.” I liked it. I don’t usually like Taylor Swift’s music, so I couldn’t believe how much I loved it.”

Smith doesn’t think Kelce needs to get married to Swift to make sure he keeps doing well in his career because both Swift and Kelce are already successful.

Smith’s new comments are similar to other things he has said about the couple recently. For example, the sports analyst said he had to “take a moment to leap to the defense for Taylor Swift” because people were criticizing her for going to Kelce’s games, saying she might be using the spotlight to sell concert tickets.

“Let’s show some respect,” Smith said, ending the conversation by pointing out that Swift had been to most of Kelce’s football matches following her Eras Tour ended.

“Those kids were going to see her concerts even if the NFL wasn’t behind her! “That girl is Taylor Swift,” he said.
