MADRID, 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Danish golfer Jeff Winther became the first leader of the Mallorca Golf Open, a tournament corresponding to the European Circuit that takes place from Thursday to Sunday at Golf Santa Punsa, thanks to a 62-stroke card (-8), while Álvaro Quirós and Jorge Campillo were positioned near the head with 64.
Winther showed that he is usually good at playing in Spain, since a few months ago at the Gran Canaria Open he also started with 62 strokes. On this occasion, two ‘bogeys’ spoiled a card with ten ‘birdies’ that allow him to be one impact ahead of the Swede Niklas Lemke, author of five ‘birdies’ and one ‘eagle’, and the South African Bryce Easton, who signed eight ‘birdies’ and a ‘bogey’.
Two strokes away was a quartet with the Spanish Álvaro Quirós and Jorge Campillo. The man from Cádiz started very well with four birdies in the first five holes and although he made two bogeys, he finished well again with two other birdies in the last three, while the Extremaduran was very solid until his only error in hole 15.
In addition, Pep Angles and Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño, with 65 strokes (-5), and Jacobo Pastor and Sebastián García Rodríguez, with 66 (-4), also stood out on this first day of the Mallorcan event.
