Daniel Sancho grants an interview from Surat Thani prison (Thailand) and talks about drugs, favors and long visits

Six months have passed since the son of Rodolfo Sancho It was transferred from the local prison of Koh Pangan to that of Surat Thani, qualified as one of the most dangerous in the world. During this time, his legal team has assured that his stay was peaceful but uncomfortable, revealing that the convicted person spent his time reading, studying Thai law and practicing sports. This Thursday, the own Daniel He has spoken from his confinement: “The atmosphere here is safe and very healthy.”

Some statements that has offered to the EFE agency and in which it explains what life is like between these bars: “There are no drugs, alcohol or violence, nor I have felt threatened at any time”. The Spanish chef also points out that there is no internal mafia that extortes the inmates and that the officials carry out an exhaustive surveillance to guarantee the peace and good behavior of the imprisoned, who achieve reductions of their sorrows for following the orders: “There is much more order than in Samui,” says Daniel. Of course, admits that the noise is deafening: “The atmosphere is oppressive”.

Considered one of the most dangerous prisons in the world, it is also the most massive in Thailand, since it houses about 5000 inmates, a figure much higher than its real capacity. Of course, living conditions are very acceptable: “There is electricity and clean water”Sancho has commented, who lives in a module with another 500 convicted, among which is an Australian and an Austrian: “When you are a foreigner, part of another system is and there is another deal”reveals. He, specifically, shares a cell with another 16 prisoners and sleeps on the floor on blankets.

Among the daily routines, Buddhist prayers and the anthem of Thailand, which must listen in complete silence. Daniel continues to read, practicing Muay Thai and studying laws, and also ensures that they allow him to contact his parents, Rodolfo Sancho and Silvia Bronchalo, as well as with his legal team. You can make a video call per week and, although it has not enjoyed one, the face -to -face visits are longer than in Samui.

Third extension

Daniel’s case continues in the courts. Sancho’s legal team resorted to the life sentence of Koh Samui for the grandson of Sancho Gracia and insists on demonstrating that there was no premeditation in the murder of the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta, whom Daniel hit until death and then dismembered in 14 pieces that he distributed throughout the island.

The Spanish defense, formed by Carmen Balfagón, Ramón Chippirrás and García Montes, has requested up to three extensions to deliver the necessary documentation for their appeal. The last date is set at the end of this month. They assure that they are being extremely meticulous because they do not want any doubt to be the court that what happened between Daniel and Edwin was, as they defend from the first moment, a tragic accident.
