Daniel Gavilán hangs the bronze in the Paralympic Judo Grand Prix of Egypt

MADRID, 14 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish judoka Daniel Gavilán achieved the best result of the national delegation present at the Egyptian Grand Prix, the second international Paralympic judo event of the year and which was held between Monday and Tuesday in Alexandria, by winning the bronze medal.

As reported by ONCE, the man from Madrid signed a great competition in the J2 (visually impaired) -60 kilos category where he was able to defeat the Georgian Zuriab Zurabiani, current runner-up in Europe, and, already in the playoffs, the Kazakh Anuar Sariyev, reigning Paralympic runner-up.

With this result, Gavilán continues to accumulate great points for the Paralympic qualification, after winning bronze a month ago in Portugal and after the two bronze medals obtained in the World Cup and the European Championship.

In addition, Marta Arce (J2 -57) from Valladolid also sought her luck in the playoffs where she lost to China’s Lin, while Sergio Ibáñez (J2 -73) from Aragon, silver in Tokyo, could not get past the first round in his debut in the season after an injury, like the young Madrid María Manzanero (J1 –blind– -57).
