Daniel Daboll talks about Tommy DeVito, Wan’Dale Robinson, Mike Kafka’s “Good Night,” and more.
Second, I’ve already talked about this. It began on the pro day. I thought he threw the ball well; it came out of his hands easily, he hit the mark, and he moved quickly.
Then we moved on to OTAs, minicamps, and training camps. As a boss, I would say he had a good way about him, which I think is important. Everyone on his team can talk to him.
It’s crazy how he hangs out with guys like defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson and does things with them during practice.
Then he goes talk about the offensive linemen and then comes back. I believe he keeps his head down and is a pretty friendly person.
He did what he was supposed to do. He has now played in four matches here. We’re still a ways off. But I believe the players also respect him for who he is and how he acts as a person.
This is Tommy DeVito’s first win after coming back from behind in the fourth quarter (17 of 21, 158 yards, 1 TD). Holy crap, what a story is this newbie making up? He ran for 71 yards and didn’t get hit, which shows that he has a lot more pocket awareness now.
His pass to Wan’Dale Robinson for 32 yards on the last play (6-79 receiving, 2-36 rushing) was a work of art. Robinson also made a great catch on the right sideline.
Because he tripped and lost the ball late in the fourth quarter, Saquon Barkley (20-86, 2 TDs) was almost the bad guy. Someone from his team picked him up.
It was third-and-1, but extra block Sean Harlow made a false start, so it was now third-and-6.
But there was not much pressure up front, so Barkley was dropped on fourth down from middle in the second quarter with no gain.
Late in the third quarter, Isaiah Hodgins made a great catch in the right corner of the end zone for an 8-yard score.
It wasn’t good that you went 3 for 10 in third down. It was pretty amazing to rush for 209 yards. Tyre Phillips made a great job with OLB Rashan Gary.

Two more mistakes that they were forced to make. Jordan Love (25 of 39, 218 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) was stifled by the defense.
RB AJ Dillon was too (15 to 53). On a play that ended with a 35-yard pass, S Dillon jumped Jason Pinnock badly.
The defense, led by Kayvon Thibodeaux or Micah McFadden, dropped the ball when Jayden Reed scored a touchdown on a walk-in in the first quarter.
In the following quarter, Pinnock came back to tackle Love, which let Thibodeaux make him lose the ball, which Xavier McKinney picked up.
In the end, Pinnock added an interception. Cor’Dale Flott got a bad pass interference call that cost them 27 yards and a field goal.
Bob Okereke made a huge catch on Reed during a late game two-point attempt that missed. When Deonte Banks broke up a pass on third down, it kept the score from going in.
