Daniel Caverzaschi makes history and will play at Roland Garros

Dani Caverzaschi has confirmed this Monday one of the most important news that he has experienced in his professional career: he will play the next edition of Roland Garros in the final table of chair tennis, a modality in which there will be double Spanish representation with the presence of Martín de la Puente as both are among the 12 best tennis players in the world according to the ITF ranking of chair tennis (De la Puente is tenth with 1,421 points and Caverzaschi, eleventh with 1,282 this week).

Caverzaschi himself thus celebrated the confirmation that he will play the final draw of the biggest tournament on clay. “Friends, a dream moment has come for me: entering my first Grand Slam. Today it is confirmed that I will play Roland Garros at the end of May. It has cost, but my team and I have rowed a lot, overcoming difficult moments, but with the passion and illusion intact”.

Caverzaschi also revealed that playing Roland Garros was one of his big dreams since he was a child, although he regretted that there are still so many obstacles to playing a Grand Slam, since only the top eight in the ITF ranking played, something that has changed at Roland Garros, where this year the top 12 will play. “Getting into the small (too small, but that’s another topic) group of wheelchair tennis players who qualify to play a Grand Slam has been my dream since I was a child, as well as a specific goal for several years. And I hope this is the first of many.”
