Dani Cárdenas' renewal is simmering

When Spanish football was debating for the momentary closure, Levante closed the renewal of Dani Cárdenas without waiting for what would come shortly after. The Terrasa goalkeeper signed until 2022, plus two optional years, with a clause of 20 million euros and you look at the first team. A season later that contract has become obsolete for one of the great revelations of the granota season.

Cárdenas broke in forcefully. It literally broke down the wall. His LaLiga debut against Valladolid on November 27 changed his role in the team and his performances in Copa del Rey, his status in the world of football. At the age of 24, he made his debut in the elite and clung to the dream of professionalism with an overwhelming personality. Even several teams were interested in his situation.

The environment of the player and the club had an approach to contemplate the traces of a new contract with the commitment to address the situation once the season ended, with the Granota sports management also to be renewed and the permanence still to be certified. But since then there is no news about it.

With the lowest contract in the squad, the goalkeeper has earned a review on the field of play at the height of his benefits to the team. The idea is to improve their salary conditions and, therefore, an increase in their clause and years of contract. Nothing crazy. But the Financial Fair Play, again, reduces the club's room for maneuver. Last season, moreover, he had to be registered with a filial file despite being a full-fledged player of the first team to settle the scores.

A circumstance that he knew how to take advantage of in his favor when the opportunity to replace Aitor Fernández arrived. At the first change, Paco López opted for Koke Vegas, but his role in San Mamés left a trace of doubts. Cárdenas, who at that time was competing with the B, arrived more smoothly and he did know how to take advantage of the opportunity. In 13 games he has gone from promise to reality.

Its renewal, however, is simmering. The economic situation and the waiting line, with several footballers knocking on the door to review their contracts, do not favor the agreement. But both parties are convinced. The entity wants to take care of a goalkeeper who has been burning stages since 2013 in its structure and he sees himself triumphing in Orriols.
