FC Barcelona announced this Friday a principle of agreement with the Brazilian side Dani Alves, who returns to the Culé entity five seasons after his first stage as a Blaugrana, although the international defender will not be able to be registered until next January with the market of winter transfers.
Alves, 38, had been without a team since last summer when he left Sao Paulo in his native country. However, he was called up by the national team in September, when he played his last official match. After this period in Brazil, plus two years at PSG and one at Juventus, he returns to what was his home for eight seasons.
“FC Barcelona and Dani Alves have reached an agreement in principle for their incorporation to the first soccer team for the remainder of this season. The Brazilian player will join training next week, but will not be able to debut until January”, informed the entity culé.
“Soon the club will report on the details of his presentation as a new player of the first soccer team,” says the Barça statement, which qualifies Alves as the “best right-back in the club’s history”, where he played 391 official matches and scored 23 goals.
Alves has a historical record of titles since this summer, he is the footballer with the most trophies in history with 46. As a Barça player he won 23 titles: 6 Leagues, 4 King’s Cups, 3 ‘Champions League’, 3 Club World Cups, 3 Spanish Super Cups and 4 European Super Cups.
In addition, Dani Alves continued his career at Juventus (2 titles), at Paris Saint-Germain (6) and at Sao Paulo (1) before returning to Barça. In total, the Brazilian has 46 wound with those obtained in his beginnings in the EC Bahía (3), in Seville (5) and with the Brazilian team (6), the last the Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020.
Dani Alves will be under the command of Xavi Hernández, who was his partner for almost a decade at Can Barça. The Brazilian, who is three years younger than the coach, will be an important piece in Xavi’s scheme, in addition to his influence and veteran locker room.
