CUP: TENERIFE – VILLARREAL | Villarreal qualify in extremis

Tenerife died standing. He lost in the last minute to the powerful Villarreal, who could only turn him around in the absence of a minute with a very nice goal from Fer Niño who, with his heel, established the 0-1.

The presence of Dani in the goal when Ortolá had been doing it in Copa drew attention in the local cast. Emery, meanwhile, got a more predictable eleven. The match began with a brave Tenerife, without letting his rival think too much to avoid scares, but it was Ale Baena when he warned twice, but without aim (5 ').

Slowly, Villarreal began to weigh their category, while Tenerife, well stopped, prepared to do damage to the counter. In the 18th minute the monotony was broken a bit with a header from Apeh that went to Rulli's hands (18 ').

The half hour game was reached with no news from goalkeeper Dani, a sign that they did not demand him since the island players were very firm in the face of rival offensive potential. Not even Trigueros, by default, could hit the mark and scare the goalkeeper. Before the break, Baena continued to be one of the few at Villarreal who tried judiciously against a Tenerife team that offered a very serious image.

The visiting team came out more intense after passing through the changing rooms and after three minutes Yéremi had the 0-1: he jumped two meters from the goal and his header was cleared by Dani pure reflex. In these first five minutes, Emery's men did much more than in 45. Bacca was the next to warn, but Pomares was faster.

Tenerife responded with a shot from Apeh inside the area that went high (58 '). The Basque coach made a triple change (Gerard Moreno, Parejo and Peña) looking to take advantage of this good start, although the blue and white team knew how to react to avoid difficulties.

The final stretch was reached with a good action from Pomares who was planted in the rival area, but Rulli avoided the 1-0 with his left foot. Of lack, Parejo did not know how to surprise Dani moments later (83 '), although then they touched 0-1, but Yéremi's header hit the post (86). And from so much going, Villarreal's classification came with a goal from Fer Niño, on the heel, one minute to go.
