The president of the Higher Sports Council, Irene Lozano, and the presidents of the Association of Basketball Clubs (ACB), Antonio Martín, and LaLIga, Javier Tebas, met this Thursday afternoon at the CSD headquarters to study the protocol for the return of the public to the stadiums and pavilions. “Prudence tells us that we have to wait and see what incidence the pandemic has at Christmas, and we will meet again after the holidays,” said Irene Lozano. There will be no public yet in January, but it will begin to talk about it from January 18. “I remain hopeful that the public will return to the stadiums before the end of the season, although this is linked to the vaccine,” said Lozano.
The three executives agree that “The return plans must be made taking into account the incidence of the virus in each territory, because it is being irregular and it seems that it will continue to be the case”. Javier Tebas assured that “you have to make plans, but nobody knows what will happen because the situation changes every two days.” “For us we would open the stadium doors tomorrow, but the message today cannot be that because that is not possible at this time,” added Tebas.
“I am very grateful to Tebas and Martín for their help, because the sports they represent have a great social pull and they know that we are facing a still complicated situation, although we have the positive horizon of the vaccine,” insisted Irene Lozano, who said that “The return can be asymmetric, depending on how things are in each territory, as the leaders of each of the sports have agreed to this”.
