Front Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) and Trincão (Barcelona) and the central Pepe (Porto) are some of the winners of the “Quinas de Ouro 2020” awards, an award that distinguishes every year the best Portuguese in football.
The organizers – the Portuguese Football Federation, the National Association of Football Coaches and the Professional Football Players Union – decided to make an adapted version of the award this year and reward those who stood out last season in competitions that came to an end.
Cristiano was distinguished in the category “Portuguese player abroad”, while Pepe won the award for the best Portuguese player who plays in Portugal.
Trincão, who came to Barcelona this year from Braga, was recognized as “Revelation Player”.
In women's football, an award was given for the best soccer player abroad, which went to Cláudia Neto (Fiorentina). Oporto, champion of the last Portuguese League, was distinguished as the best team of the year and its coach, Sérgio Conceição, as the best coach.
Jorge Jesus won the award for best coach abroad for his successes at Flamengo before heading to Benfica, his current team. Instead of the usual ceremony, the prizes will be delivered individually on dates to be announced.
