“Cristiano must be thinking: ‘What have I gotten myself into?'”

Alan Shearer, top scorer for the history of the Premier, defended a teammate from the goal guild, Cristiano Ronaldo. The legend of the English league assured that a “false narrative” is being generated to accuse Cristiano of the bad moment that Manchester United is experiencing. “Cristiano must be thinking ‘what have I gotten myself into? He is an incredible player, one of the best that has ever stepped on the planet, but he is already 37 years old. He does not like to be left out because his essence is a will incomparable way to win and a great determination never to be defeated. He wants to play every minute of every game. If that attitude goes away, Cristiano goes away, but of course, that also puts pressure on the coach,” he says in a column in The Athletic.

Shearer blames Cristiano for the Old Trafford club’s problems. “I don’t blame him for anything that’s going on. He has a right to believe that if it weren’t for him, they would be worse off than they are. I would be right. Same thing happened to me. At the end of my career I was left out a couple of times and I can’t explain how much I hated it. Every second. It seemed embarrassing to me, a humiliation”, recognized the former striker.

For him, the complaints about his attitude are unfounded and the youngsters of the team should try to learn more from United’s 7. “Should it be more enjoyable at the end of matches, cheering on your teammates? Having Cristiano in your team should be like living a dream for youngsters. And if they’re not asking him for advice and trying to absorb everything from him, they should now,” he advised.

“To me, this is a false narrative. The big questions to be answered are the why of United’s pathetic defense or lack of it. Cristiano is not making excuses, he is furious about this chaos and asks for something better. But what can you ask for? What can they give you? When and how is she going to get there? Are we able to see that this will get better before worse? I’m not,” she sentenced.
