Cristiano explodes for the Ballon d’Or: “I don’t win against anyone”

MADRID, 29 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has denied the words of the editor-in-chief of France Football and has denied that the only ambition of his career is to retire with more Ballons d’Or than Leo Messi, and has assured that he does not win “against anyone” but for him himself and the clubs he represents.

“Today’s result explains the reason for Pascal Ferré’s statements last week, stating that I confessed to him that my only ambition was to finish my career with more Ballons d’Or than Lionel Messi,” he declared on his social networks hours before the start of the Ballon d’Or award gala in Paris.

This same week, Pascal Ferré, editor-in-chief of France Football, the French magazine in charge of awarding the Ballon d’Or, assured that the Manchester United striker, who has five awards, was eager to retire with more trophies than the Argentine Leo Messi, who has six. “Ronaldo only has one ambition and that is to retire with more Ballon d’Or than Messi, and I know it because he told me,” he said in an interview.

Cristiano considers that the only thing the journalist is looking for is to “promote himself.” “Pascal Ferré lied, he used my name to promote himself and promote the publication for which he works. It is inadmissible that the person responsible for awarding such a prestigious award could lie in this way, with absolute disrespect to someone who has always respected France Football and the Ballon d’Or. And he lied again today, justifying my absence from the gala with a supposed quarantine that has no reason to be, “he said.

“I always congratulate whoever wins, within the sportsmanship and fair play that have guided my career from the beginning, and I do it because I am never against anyone. I always win for myself and for the clubs I represent, I win for myself and for those who love me. I don’t win against anyone, “he continued.

“The greatest ambition of my career is to win national and international titles for the clubs I represent and for the national team of my country. The greatest ambition of my career is to be a good example for all those who are or want to be professional footballers. My career ambition is to leave my name written in gold letters in the history of world football, “he continued.

Finally, the Portuguese international explained that his attention is focused “on Manchester United’s next game” and on everything that, together with his “teammates and fans”, they can still “achieve this season.” “The rest? The rest is just the rest,” he finished.
