Cristiano crosses the road

Cristiano will once again cross the path of Spain. Portugal is presented as the strongest rival of the Selection in the league phase of the Nations League 2022/23, whose draw was carried out this Thursday and in which Luis Enrique’s team has also been framed together with Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Spain, which was already a finalist in the last edition of the tournament, aspires to be the first in Group 2 and reach the final four, where it will try to add a title that it does not yet have in its showcases.

The theory says that Spain should compete side by side with Portugal, who won the first edition of the Nations League in 2019, for the first place in the group, although Switzerland and the Czech Republic will not make it easy. The National Team already faced the Swiss team in the quarterfinals of the last European Championship and could only beat a team that had just eliminated France, the great favorite, in the penalty shoot-out. The Czech Republic also played a great role in the last major tournament, where their striker Patrik Schick shone above all, who scored four goals and who will be the great danger for his team.

The Selection failed to avoid one of the coconuts that could play in Pot 2, Portugal and Germany, but it did elude England, the great selection in Pot 3. The three lions fell into the same group as the Germans and the Italian team, current European champions, in a group that will clearly be considered ‘the one of death’ and in which Hungary, fourth in contention, has very little to say .

The other two groups in League A, whose champions will qualify for the final four of the tournament, are the one formed by Austria, Croatia, Denmark and France, the current Nations League champion, and the one that includes Wales, Poland, the Netherlands and Belgium, that starts as a favorite, although it is a fairly balanced group.
