Cracks of the 21st century: Padilla, a nose for goal for Tenerife

Historically, great footballers have come out, often players with duende. In the glorious era of the National Team, nobody represents the Canarian style better than David Silva. In this section we have already analyzed Pedri, the great jewel of the Las Palmas quarry that has already signed for Barcelona. Now it's time to see the Tenerife quarry, where a name shines with its own light: Jorge Padilla (Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura, 2001).

Tenerife and Las Palmas know that they compete with each other so that none of the best talents on the islands escape them. They have scouts in each town to have the best reports. In this case, it was Tenerife who captured this young striker who stood out in the Maxorata.

Is a fast forward, who stands out very well in space and who has a nose for ‘killer’. A sense of smell that he showed this season. He was the first player born in the 21st century to debut with the Tenerife first team. He did it with the help of Sesé Rivero, director of the base football area, who was an interim until he signed Rubén Baraja (who would also continue to trust him). In the first two games Padilla played as a starter (Messenger in the Cup and Albacete in the League) he scored a goal. In total, he has played seven games with the first team this season even though he is still of youthful age. It was expected that this course would have alternated the Youth with the subsidiary (in Third), but Jorge has advanced the deadlines.

Given this performance, Tenerife wanted to ensure its continuity, aware that several clubs were beginning to tempt their youth team. It recently announced its renewal until 2025. He will still not have a file with the first team, although he will always train with them and would only go down to the subsidiary in case of not having minutes.

With Spain he has not yet debuted, but Santi Denia has signed him up to count on him in this season's U19 Euro Cup, it still doesn't have a date. If in these last matches with Tenerife he maintains the progression he has shown, he will also have his reward at La Rojita …
