Corinna assures that, in 2004, Don Juan Carlos was very worried about the media frenzy of the wedding and the honeymoon trip and asked him to take charge of controlling the press: “I couldn’t refuse.” He also affirms that the rural trip through Spain (Cuenca, Zaragoza…) that was reported was mere publicity: “Then there was the real one, an impressive trip through Jordan, Cambodia, Samoa, California, Mexico and Fiji, among other countries. . It involved chartering a plane, designing an itinerary, and flying them in without being discovered. You file a flight plan and then change it and no one in the tower can tip it off. In my office only two knew the itinerary. It’s a seven-day, 243-hour-a-week job,” he says.

The businesswoman reveals that the cost of the luxurious honeymoon (half a million euros) it was paid half between Zarzuela and Josep Cusí (friend of Don Juan Carlos and alleged figurehead) through his Catalan company Navilot, SL: “Perhaps it was a gift, perhaps a favor or something much, much worse,” he says.

“Disturbing and ruthless”

This Monday the 7th, the first two podcasts of ‘Corinna y el rey’ are released, in which he recounts that he met the emeritus at the La Garganta estate, during a hunt. She helped him with a jammed gun and he “was hooked”. After talking on the phone every day for weeks, they met in Madrid, in La Angorrilla: “We were madly in love. The term ‘lover’ does not represent what we were because in my heart, he was my husband,” she says. “He was very welcoming, and kind, magical, intense. He called me about ten times a day, sent me flowers and letters. Over time it became clearer and clearer that he was not only leading a double life, but he was leading a quintuple life. There is something disturbing about him and quite ruthless. It’s a matter of survival.”
