Corchia says goodbye to her annus horribilis at Espanyol

Although he recently commented that he had recovered from his meniscus injury, Sébastien Corchia will no longer wear Espanyol's shirt. Abelardo Fernández confirmed this on Friday afternoon: “He has discomfort again. He also has no file”. He was the coach when he ruled out a footballer who will return to Seville on June 30 and who has tiptoed through the Blue and Whites' club. Corchia says goodbye with three LaLiga matches and four in Europe, and with a long history in the infirmary.

The sports management had positive reports of the player in his time in France. It was then when Sevilla went ahead. The fine-tuned technical secretary headed by Monchi saw the same thing as in Sant Adrià, but the performance of the winger has not been as expected in both clubs. Pablo Machín barely counted on him at Sevilla, while he later failed to establish himself and injuries condemned him at Espanyol.

The player debuted, precisely, against Alavés in late August. He played 90 minutes with a good performance, just like the following week against Granada despite the defeat of the parakeet team (0-3). That same week he suffered the first muscle injury. It set him apart for a month from training. On his return, he played in the grave of David Gallego in Mallorca. With Machín, he barely counted and only played in Europe. In December it was when he relapsed from his meniscus injury.

The right-back position reflects the poor decision-making of the sports management, done this summer. The club rejected the signing of Roberto Rosales, who finally landed at Leganés at a rate of just over a million euros. Corchia arrived for free, but his performance has been light years away from the one offered by the Venezuelan the previous year, who shared the position with Javi López.
