Contador, ‘Purito’, Horrillo and Zülle participate this Saturday in the Gran Fondo Alberto Contador march

MADRID, 22 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

More than 2,000 runners will participate this Saturday (8:00 a.m.) in the TotalEnergies Gran Fondo Alberto Contador cycle tour, which will be held on a single route of 146 kilometers and 2,538 meters of positive gradient with start and finish in Oliva (Valencia) and in in which former professional cyclists Alberto Contador, Joaquim ‘Purito’ Rodríguez, Pedro Horrillo and Alex Zulle will participate.

On the 146 kilometer route, cyclists will have to overcome the peaks of Coll de Rates, Sa Creueta and Vall d’Ebo, as the main climbs of the day. This was revealed at the official presentation this Friday, held at the Oliva Nova Beach&Golf Resort Hotel, by Alberto Contador himself, who highlighted the change of course to a single distance.

“I’m sure the participants will love it because it is very balanced and anyone who wants to push themselves to the maximum in the climbs will be able to do so and you can also ride while enjoying the landscapes,” declared the former Madrid cyclist.

In addition, Contador added that he loves being able to share the test with the participants. “It is a way of thanking them for all the support they have given me during my career, encouraging me from the sidelines and now I can enjoy the route, landscapes and shouts of encouragement with them,” he said.

The cyclists will have a challenge against the clock at the Coll de Rates, since the fastest man and woman on the climb will receive a prize from the sponsor Coca Cola. Contador has highlighted the support of the Oliva City Council and the sponsors of the TotalEnergies Gran Fondo Alberto Contador for being part of this family.

For the head of Corporate Communication at TotalEnergies, Eva Mayordomo, it is “a pleasure” to support this test. “Because it’s exciting to see how hard everyone involved works and because they all embrace our company values,” she said.

The mayor of Oliva, Yolanda Pastor, has congratulated the entire TotalEnergies Gran Fondo Alberto Contador family for being part of Oliva and for uniting sport and tourism in an exceptional way.

“We are delighted to host this event and we want all participants to enjoy the surroundings and cycling with Alberto Contador tomorrow,” he highlighted.

Cyclists will have until 2:30 p.m. to cross the finish line and celebrate the end of the party at Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort with their commemorative medal that will remind them that they were part of the TotalEnergies Gran Fondo Alberto Contador.
