Conchita Martínez and Ivanisevic enter the Hall of Fame

The Spanish Conchita Martínez and the Croatian Goran Ivanisevic are already part from this Saturday of the select club of tennis players whose names appear in the Tennis Hall of Fame.

This recognition took place this Saturday during the celebration of the Newport tournament, where The 'Original Nine' were also recognized, the tennis players who promoted the leap from women's tennis to professionalism, among which Billie Jean King stands out. The work of the South African Dennis Van der Meer was also posthumously recognized, creator of the academy in which tennis players of the stature of Margaret Court and Billie Jean King were forged.

Conchita Martínez, 49, is one of the great figures in the history of Spanish tennis, with her Wimbledon title in 1994, her three Olympic medals, the finals at the Australian Open in 1998 and Roland Garros in 2000 and her five Federation Cup titles with Spain in 1991, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1998. A passion for tennis that Conchita continues to demonstrate now from the other side of the tracks as Garbiñe Muguruza's coach.

For his part, Goran Ivanisevic, 49, is one of the great figures in the history of Balkan tennis as evidenced by his title at Wimbledon in 2001, his Olympic bronze at Barcelona 92 ​​and the Davis Cup won by Croatia in 2005. Like Conchita Martínez, Ivanisevic is still linked to the world of tennis today as the coach of another tennis player who is already a legend: Serbian Novak Djokovic.
