Inspired by Luke Skywalker’s iconic pilot suit, it is designed to ‘challenge’ the Empire

The brand specialized in outdoor sports equipment Columbia, in collaboration with the film production company Lucasfilm, reveals the Star Wars Special Edition Skywalker Pilot Collection, which is inspired by Luke Skywalker’s iconic pilot suit and designed to ‘challenge ‘to the Empire.
This is Columbia’s largest Star Wars collection to date and incorporates fan-favorite details from the iconic orange pilot suit, while integrating the utility, technology and style needed to ‘challenge’ the Empire.
As part of the contextual research for this special edition collection, the Columbia team studied the original costumes seen on screen in close collaboration with the Lucasfilm team to incorporate authentic details into the designs.
The insulated collar construction, precise sleeve taper, and a host of fan-favorite nods and easter eggs, including vehicle blueprints and original concept art, make this a unique collection. This nine-piece collection can be found at Columbia.es/StarWars.
“This collaboration marries Star Wars design with Columbia’s signature performance and durability. These are not costume reproductions. Our product team was inspired by Luke Skywalker’s iconic pilot suit to create a fully equipped ski collection and designed to resist the elements. It is that fusion that we find interesting. The models are as functional as they are attractive,” said Matt Merriman, vice president of Brand Development and Collaborations at Columbia Sportswear.
THE GOLD PATTERN OF OMNI-HEAT INFINITY
Key models in the collection also feature the gold standard in outerwear, Columbia’s Omni-Heat Infinity thermo-reflective technology, and prices range from €40 to €550.
The Skywalker Pilot Collection pieces, available December 1, include a Skywalker Pilot jumpsuit and ski jacket, inspired by Luke Skywalker’s iconic pilot suit; snow goggles, a light jacket, a sweatshirt, a long-sleeved and a short-sleeved t-shirt, a cross-body bag and a cap with a visor.
