Club de Campo and Sanse Complutense will play the final of the 2021-2022 Iberdrola Hockey League this Sunday (12:00 p.m.) after beating Junior FC (4-0) and RC Polo (2-2 and 4-3, in ‘shoot outs’), in the ‘Final Four’ that is being held in Madrid.
The Country Club will seek what would be its third consecutive title, while the Complutenses will fight for the third in their showcases, the last being won in 2016, against this same rival and on this same stage.
The first to get the ticket were the reigning champions, who dominated the clash from the start. Sara Barrios put Club de Campo ahead after three minutes and – following a penalty corner – Carmen Cano extended the lead before reaching ten minutes.
Alicia Magaz increased the differences -already entered the second act (3-0, min 23)- and Lucía Abajo established the definitive 4-0 at 67 minutes of play by finishing off a ball without an owner. A clear victory that gives them license to defend their wound in the grand final.
Their rival will be Sanse Complutense, who needed penalties to win. The first to break the balance was Flor Amundson Teves at five minutes. The striker from Madrid repeated with the rival goal before closing this first set by doubling the lead in the 16th minute.
Jorge Donoso’s players reacted to equalize the match and take the game to a penalty corner. Lola Riera, from the penalty corner, left the difference in its minimum expression (1-2, min.40) and at 65 ‘she established the 2-2 opting for the same formula. This tie took the tie to the round of ‘shoot outs’.
Some shots that also ended even after the execution of the scheduled ten and that ended up defining Berta Agulló, author of a goal that leads her team to be able to fight for the title this Sunday from 12 noon.
For its part, the men’s final of the MGS Field Hockey League will be played this Sunday by RC Polo and Atlètic Terrassa (3pm). Two teams that have qualified after beating Club de Campo (3-3/4-3) and Club Egara (3-2), respectively, in the semis.
