City wants to remain undefeated and Tottenham and Liverpool fight to continue at the top

MADRID, 29 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

On matchday 7 of the Premier League against Wolves this Saturday (4:00 p.m.), Manchester City wants to extend their total number of victories in the competition, to surpass the record achieved by Pep Guardiola himself in the 2016/17 season, while Tottenham and Liverpool will test their unbeatability in a duel to stay on top.

With the Champions League match against RB Leipzig on the horizon, the Catalan coach could reserve some pieces against the Wolves, who are beginning to flirt with relegation with only 4 points out of a possible 18.

The ‘citizens’ face this seventh matchday with the intention of surpassing the club’s best start in the League by reaching seven consecutive victories – something that until now guarantees the domestic title – and forgetting the elimination in the round of 32 of the Carabao Cup against Newcastle (1 -0).

Guardiola’s men are first with 18 points, closely followed, 2 points away, by Liverpool, who will face Tottenham in London in the match of the day. Second and fourth place, respectively, will experience a high-flying duel, with the aim of keeping up with the leader and not getting out of the lead.

Jürgen Klopp’s team has 5 consecutive victories in the League – 7 in all competitions – and they hope to maintain their idyll as a visitor against Tottenham, a team they have not lost since 2017. The Londoners arrive with more doubts, after drawing (2 -2) against the candidate Arsenal.

Precisely, the Gunners and Bournemouth will experience the Spanish duel of the day, with Mikel Arteta and Andoni Iraola on the bench, respectively. At the Vitality Stadium, the locals will look for their first victory of the season against a major rival called to fight for the title, although they are now fifth, four points behind the head. The Londoners remain unbeaten, with 4 wins and 2 draws.

Furthermore, Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, which is close to the European spots, opens the day this Saturday (1:30 p.m.) against Ansu Fati’s Brighton, who still hasn’t made his debut and is third with 15 points. Both have just been eliminated in the Carabao Cup, although the start of each team is more than notable, so the duel will determine which team can fight to enter the ‘big 4’.

The day closes with a London derby between Fulham and Chelsea on Monday, a duel to which the ‘blues’ arrive dragging poor results that make the wound enormous, with only one goal scored in September. Their baggage is only 5 points out of 18 possible, so the danger of relegation is beginning to be more palpable. Thus, Mauricio Pochettino’s men will want to reverse the situation against a Fulham that is eleventh with 8 points.
