MADRID, 11 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Manchester City kept the leadership of the Premier this Saturday thanks to a 1-0, with a penalty goal by Raheem Sterling, against Wolves, on a matchday 16 in which they also beat Liverpool, 1-0 over Aston Villa, and Chelsea against Leeds (3-2).
Pep Guardiola’s men, who took the lead last day for the first time of the season, kept their heads in suspense and a controversial penalty in the 66th minute. The referee signaled the maximum penalty with the VAR although the image did not seem to show that Joao Moutinho will touch the ball with his hand.
The second half was played by Wolves with one less for the two yellow cards that Raúl Jiménez saw just before half-time and, despite the dominance, City were unable to have a calmer debut in the leadership. Of course, Guardiola’s men remain up with 38 points, by Liverpool’s 37 and Chelsea’s 36.
The ‘red’ team also won by the minimum and a penalty that Salah transformed in the second half, in which Steven Gerrard returned to Anfield, as Villa manager. The maximum penalty also smiled at the third in contention, a launch with which Joginho gave the victory to the ‘blues’ in discount.
Thomas Tuchel’s men recovered the taste of victory in a dramatic way at Stamford Bridge, against a Leeds that showed again that the European champions are suffering on defense. In addition, the day left the triumphs of Manchester United and Arsenal to press West Ham for fourth place.
In Ralf Ragnick’s second game, Cristiano Ronaldo came to the rescue of the ‘Red Devils’ in their sight of Norwich, scoring the only goal of the match from a penalty. Meanwhile, the ‘Gunners’ rose from two consecutive defeats against Southampton (3-0).
