An injury sustained by Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow has forced Netherlands coach Frank de Boer to call in Twente goalkeeper Joel Drommel for the friendly against Spain on Wednesday.
This is the first call with the absolute for Drommel, 23, who had already been on the national team's junior ranks four times, the Royal Netherlands Football Federation said in a statement on Sunday. Bijlow is the second casualty suffered by the “Clockwork Orange” in goal, as De Boer already had to rule out Valencia goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen last Saturday due to injury.
Drommel took over the ownership of the Twente goal in the 2016-17 academic year. In the current season he has conceded eight goals in eight games.
