Cilic Believes Winning U.S Open Will Be Devalued With No Fans Watching!!

Marin Cilic is thinking that if he will be winning the U.S. Open in front of the empty stands with no fans to cheer up. Then his win at Arthur Ashe Stadium will be unforgettable as a Grand Slam triumph. The former champion, Marin Cilic speaks up about this to Reuters. But there are so many people and fans who are hoping forward to watch the match as soon as possible.

Martin Cilic’s Belief About Playing Before Empty Stands In U.S. Open

Almost all the sports and seasons have temporarily come to a halt due to the Coronavirus pandemic that the entire world is suffering from currently. So the tennis matches and seasons are also not going to take place until everything is back to normal. But what most people and sports players are sad about it that the shutdown will continue till the end of July. Almost all the countries in the world are following the complete lockdown procedures including the restriction of air travels.

Amid the crisis, The U.S. Open is trying to find out a way to keep the show going on even if that includes keeping the audience out. The U.S. Open will continue its schedule from 31 August onwards. They are thinking of not including any unnecessary people in the match for safety purposes.

Marin Cilic, the silver trophy holder at 2014 Flushing Meadows feels a little emotional about the decision. He says in an interview from Croatia, “I just feel that it’s going to more or less feel like practice matches”.

Also, Martin Cilic continues, “It’s always going to be … in the years to come, ‘oh, you know that guy won a U.S. Open in 2020 without fans’.

Tennis season is slightly different than football and basketball,” Cilic adds.

He speaks up, “They have seasons to finish off, and the next season is depending on this season as well. For tennis, if we start in December or in January, it’s not going to change too much”. He mentions,  “I believe that there won’t be any tournaments without fans.

Martin Cilic shares his feelings saying, “Basically the whole tour is revolving a lot on sponsors and people coming to the tournaments. Sponsors are investing money because people are coming to watch tennis and see the players.”
