Christmas has brought a poisoned gift to Manchester City. The English club confirmed this Friday the positives for coronavirus of Gabriel Jesús and Kyle Walker, to which are added another two by two ‘citizen’ employees.
The weekly tests of the English team have brought bad news to Pep Guardiola, who will lose two players ahead of Boxing Day that faces Newcastle this Saturday (9:00 pm).
As reported by the City, the four infected will be kept in isolation following the protocol of the Premier and the British Government. “Everyone at the club wishes our teammates the best, as well as a speedy recovery over the Christmas period before they can go back to work, train and play,” City added in a statement.
The Premier currently conducts a weekly test on players and team workers, although it plans to increase it to two per week, as it did during the first months after the pandemic, in those areas located at level 4 of infections. Manchester is currently at Level 3 with no plans to upgrade.
This level of infection prevents fans from supporting their team in football stadiums, so City will play the match against the ‘magpies’ behind closed doors.
