Christian Pulisic becomes the American with the most goals in the Champions League

A new page in the history of American football has been written this Tuesday, after Christian Pulisic scored the goal with which Chelsea went ahead in his visit to Real Madrid, within the first leg of the Champions League semifinals, a round in which never before had an American player scored and with whom he also became the USMNT player with the most goals in history of the European contest.

Pulisic advanced the blue squad at minute 14, after eluding Thibaut Courtois and shooting with power, in what meant the first goal of the night for those led by Thomas Tuchel and with which Pulisic reached 5 goals in the Champions League, to become the American with the most goals in the most important club tournament in the world.

With his goal this Tuesday, ‘Captain America’ reached five goals since his Champions League debut with Borussia Dortmund and surpassed DaMarcus Beasley to now be America's top scorer in the Champions League.

The goals of Pulisic in Champions

Christian Pulisic made his appearance in the Champions League in 2016 with the Dortmund jersey and since then He has a total of 34 appearances in the continental tournament, both with the German team and with Chelsea. His first score was precisely the one already mentioned against Benfica and it took a couple of seasons for the American to score again in the continental tournament, when in 2018/19 he scored against Bruges.

Already wearing the Chelsea shirt, Pulisic made his debut in the 2019/20 campaign, in which he scored a goal against Valencia, while his last continental goal dated back to this season's group stage, when he scored a goal against Krasnodar.
