Chofis López will continue in San José Earthquakes

Javier Eduardo “Chofis” López will continue to play in Major League Soccer (MLS). It will start 2022 with San José Earthquakes despite rumors that Chivas de Guadalajara would not renew the loan.

Chivas, owner of the Chofis pass, he gave it to MLS at the beginning of 2021 and should return to Jalisco to play with the Sacred Rebaño in Clausura 2022; However, ESPN journalist Jeff Carlisle indicated that the American franchise agreed a new loan with the Mexican club.

This was a request from the Argentine coach Matías Almeyda, who wants him on the squad.

Chofis came out of Chivas wrapped in discredit. The press and the fans considered him a hopeless case, a talent thrown away. The midfielder knew how to be the great hope of the Flock and of Mexican football in general, but his declines in performance took him away from the good level. The fans accused him of being undisciplined. In this context, he went on loan to soccer in the United States.

In your first year in San José Earthquakes it recovered some of the brilliance that it had in its beginnings. He became the second Mexican soccer player with the most goals in MLS. He was nominated for best signing of the season.

Almeyda He has “Chofis”, whom he met when he was DT of Chivas, to achieve the consistency that his team did not have in 2021.
