Chelsea announce the renewal of Thiago Silva

The Chelsea has moved to the danger of running out of defenses next season and announced this Monday the renewal of Thiago Silva.

The Brazilian, who ended the current contract at the end of this season, has signed for one more, that is, he has a written agreement until June 2023. Now however the future of César Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen remains to be resolved, who also end their contract and both are in the orbit of Barça.

The truth is that, despite his 37 years, Thiago Silva has won a one-season renewal. Since his arrival in 2020, the central defender’s performance has been impeccable and he actually managed to lift the Champions League, something he pursued as Paris Saint Germain captain but never managed to achieve.

“The experience, leadership and performances of Thiago Silva have been and continue to be very important for this team, so we are very happy to extend his contract one more year,” he celebrated. Marina Granovskaia, Chelsea’s sports director.

For his part, the Brazilian center-back assured that “playing with Chelsea is a real pleasure. I never thought I would play for three years at this great club, so I’m very happy to stay one more season.”
