Chargers News: The firing of Brandon Staley shows how important the bolts have been in the past.

Brandon Staley should have been fired a long time ago by the Los Angeles Chargers. They will end a rough regular season with a sure top-5 draft pick and a new head coach in caretaker replacement Griff Smith.

And while the talk about Staley has been murky since the end of the inaugural campaign, the Bolts kept him for almost two more, while Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen, and Austin Ekeler were all nearing the end of their best years.

After just one season to be McVay’s defensive coordinator (2020), the Chargers hired Staley, which made his case as a top candidate for a coaching job even stronger.
The Rams had the best defense in the league that year, which made Staley’s point as a top choice for the job.

The former Super Bowl-winning coach probably only liked Staley because of how well the 2020 defense played.

However, it’s worth noting that LAR had Aaron Donald as well as Jalen Ramsey, who were the best defensive ends and defensive backs within the NFL at the time.

Still, this praise makes it possible that Staley has a better reputation in the league than it seems.

There’s a small chance he’ll ever be a head coach again, but he will almost certainly work on defense and could move up to become the defensive coordinator again.

There are a lot of great coordinators who have trouble being head teachers because the job is so much harder.

To get his reputation back, Staley might fit into this group. If he does, he’ll be like Josh McDaniels and Dan Quinn and be a defense coordinator.

The Los Angeles Chargers didn’t waste any time replacing (temporarily?) former head boss Brandon Staley and former general manager Tom Telesco.

Both were fired this morning after the team lost a historically bad 63-21 game to the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Chargers’ public Twitter/X account says that Giff Smith has been named interim head coach and JoJo Wooden has been named acting general manager.

From 2016 to 2021, Smith, 55, was the Chargers’ defensive lineman coach. Last season, he was moved to be LA’s outside linebackers coach.

Since 2013, Wooden was the Bolts’ head of player personnel. His job was to look for players in the pros and in college. Men, fasten your belts. The Chargers, who are 5-9, will have a rough last three games.

It’s not clear who will play in the last few games of Wooden and Smith’s lost season in Los Angeles. Five-time Pro Bowl receiver Keenan Allen also didn’t play on Thursday because he hurt his heel.

Even though quarterback Justin Herbert had good enough stats to possibly be named on his second Pro Bowl team, he didn’t have any good results to go with them.

He had surgery on his right hand’s index finger earlier in the week, before the Vegas game, that ended his season.

Mike Williams, who started with Allen at the start of the season, tore his ACL in September during a 28-24 win in the Minnesota Vikings. He won’t be back to SoFi any time this year either.

The general manager was fired at the same time as Staley’s expected exit. This showed how disappointed the owners were with the team, which started the season alongside Super Bowl hopes but could now be the worst in the NFL.

It was the most points that the Chargers had ever put up and the most points the Raiders enjoyed ever scored in a game.

After the game, Staley said he was sure his players retained their faith in him, but it didn’t seem to matter because the Chargers lost their third-worst game in team history and are now 5-9.

Coach Giff Smith, who is in charge of the outside linebackers, was named temporary head coach by the Chargers.

JoJo Wooden was named interim general manager. Feel free to ask and get answers about what happened and what will happen next.
