Juventus Turn defender Daniele Rugani tested positive for COVID-19, the virus causing a global pandemic, the Italian club announced this Wednesday, stating that the player is currently presenting an “asymptomatic” picture.
“Juventus is currently activating all the planned isolation procedures, including the census of all persons who have been in contact with it,” the club wrote.
It is the second case of a footballer from the major European leagues, because Thymus Hbers, a Hannover 96 player, also tested positive for coronavirus a few hours earlier, his team said in a statement.
Rugani, 25-year-old central defender, was on the bench last Sunday in the game played by Juventus against Inter Milan in Serie A. His last game as a starter was on February 22, always in Serie A, against Spal de Ferrara. He was also part of the youth expedition that visited Lyon on February 26.
