Cesc Fàbregas leaves Monaco

MADRID, 18 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Spanish midfielder Cesc Fàbregas will not continue at AS Monaco after ending his contract with the French Ligue 1 club, where he has played for the last three and a half seasons, the Principality entity confirmed this Saturday.

The Catalan, 35 years old and world and European champion with the Spanish team, joined the team in January 2019 from Chelsea, and his last campaign has been marked by injuries. “AS Monaco thanks Cesc Fàbregas for his three and a half years at the club and wishes him the best for the future,” he said.

In his first year in the Principality, marked by the break and the cancellation of the championship due to the coronavirus pandemic, the former Arsenal and FC Barcelona player played 22 games and provided 3 assists.

Already the following year, he established himself as an adviser to men such as the now Real Madrid player Aurélien Tchouameni, Youssouf Fofana or Eliot Matazo; His 3 goals and 6 assists helped the team to be third at the end of the 2020-2021 season. Last season he was hampered by injuries.
