Cerezo: “I think the criticism of Simeone is unfair, the directive does not doubt him at all”

MADRID, Jan. 27 (SportsFinding) –

The president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, considered “unfair” the criticism that coach Diego Pablo Simeone is receiving for the bad moment that the team is going through and assured that the directive “does not doubt him at all”, at the same time which confirmed that “there is absolutely nothing” regarding the possible arrival of Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.

“The criticisms of Simeone seem unfair to me, they cannot be carried out. He is the coach who has given us the most titles and also, we must bear in mind that there is no team in Spain during any period that has kept a coach during at least eight years, and those that remain, “Cerezo said in the IV Gala of the awards of the Sports Press Association of Madrid.

In addition, he stressed that the directive does not doubt the 'Cholo' “for nothing”, since they are “delighted” with the Argentine coach. “Everyone has bad times, and it's happening to us now, as can happen to others,” he added.

In this sense, he proved not to be “worried” about the situation of the mattress set, which accumulates four games without winning, since they are “circumstances that any team can go through.” “We have a great coach and a great team,” he reiterated.

“We have only played three games after the Super Cup: a match against Cultural, against Eibar and against Leganés. A short time ago you said that the teams that are now in first and second position were evicted, and now it turns out that they are the first, to see if in three and four weeks we do it in reverse, with us, “he explained.

On the other hand, Cerezo remarked that “there is absolutely nothing so far, more than illusion” about the possible signing of the striker of Paris Saint-Germain Edinson Cavani by the club rojiblanco. “We are in a position where I know what you (the journalists) tell me. There are few days left in the winter market and these are complicated things,” he said.

“As a striker I like all the strikers who score goals. What we need is to score goals, and we have great scorers, what happens is that we do not have that luck, which we had left over and now we need,” he concluded.
