Celta de Vigo, lacking a nine goalscorer since the departure of Uruguayan Maxi Gómez to Valencia, seems to have solved his lack of aim with the arrival of Argentine Eduardo Coudet to his bench, with five goals in his last two games, only one less than in the previous nine days.
Óscar García Junyent got tired of asking for a forward until he was dismissed as Celta coach on November 9. His team did not score in four games – Eibar, Barça, Osasuna and Atlético – and only in the victory against Valencia (2-1) did he score more than one goal.
The debate on the lack of a goal has been present since the departure of Maxi Gómez, increasing dependence on the success of Spanish international Iago Aspas, who until yesterday's game had five of Celta's eight goals.
The celestial scorer did not score against Granada (3-1), but he was once again decisive with a football exhibition, participating in all the offensive actions of his team. Celta ended the match with 17 shots on goal, eight of them between the three sticks. Fran Beltrán and Miguel Baeza also made their debut as scorers. Nolito signed his second target.
Nolito's goal against Granada
A week before, against Sevilla at the Sánchez Pizjuán, Celta already showed that Coudet's system, with three steering wheels behind the two forwards, will lead to more arrivals in the rival area. The sky blue fired 15 times on goal and scored two goals -Aspas and Nolito-.
These are numbers that improved Óscar García's Celta against Elche (14 shots, 1 goal), Real Sociedad (9 shots, 1 goal), Levante (10 shots, 1 goal), Osasuna (9 shots).
Even against Atlético de Madrid, in a match in which they enjoyed several clear scoring chances, the Vigo team did not reach 17 shots on goal yesterday. He stayed at 15, and only five between the three suits.
The only time Celta exceeded that average was in the victory against Valencia (2-1). Celta ended that match with 23 shots, of which six were on target, ten away and seven rejected.
