Celta needed a victory to calm the waters and give their coach, Òscar García some oxygen, but he had to settle for a point after the draw against Elche at the Martínez Valero. The Catalan coach is still on the wire after a game in which his team was superior to the rival but failed to materialize his good feelings with goals.
This Celta continues to point out ways, but the results do not come and the situation becomes a little more complicated every week. Against Elche, the Vigo team displayed attractive football, generated great scoring chances, but confirmed once again that luck is still unaccompanied. After nine games, the sky blue is seventeenth and could fall into the relegation zone if Huesca beat Eibar today.
VAR penalty
Celta's needs were joined by bad luck at the start of the game. In fact, the match could not have started any worse for the Vigo team, to which the VAR awarded a penalty against the innocent hands of Hugo Mallo.
De Burgos Bengoetxea, after seeing him on the monitor, complied with the rules and pointed out the infraction, undoubtedly controversial seeing how it occurred. The Celta defender at no time wanted to take advantage of his arm to control the ball, which he rebounded with his forearm, but the rule this course indicates that although involuntary, these types of hands should be penalized.
Fidel, with a paradiña before launching, did not miss from the fatal point and overtook Elche.
The franjiverdes took advantage of the moment and almost scored the second with a header from Barragán, however Celta, after a few minutes off-center, began to take over the game.
Òscar García's footballers accused their defensive fragility, but from midfield onwards they combined well to find the few spaces left by Elche's thick rear.
Badía stops
Little by little, Celta's offensive machinery was greasing and the feeling of a tie was hovering over Martínez Valero. In fact, if he didn't arrive earlier, it was because of Édgar Badía and his stops.
Brais had the equalized with two golden occasions, but his shots could not with the Elche goalkeeper, imperial in the hand in hand. After shining against Brais, the Catalan goalkeeper could not stop a low shot from Santi Mina, author of the equalizer a few minutes before the break.
Celta had half a part left to get a bigger booty and he jumped onto the field determined to go for the game. The Òscar players were imposed on an Elche that was going down and also enjoyed several occasions to get to pierce the rival goal, especially with two from Iago Aspas, but yesterday the forward from Vigo did not have his day and failed when he had everything in favor.
Almirón, seeing the Celta football avalanche, decided to move the bench and made three changes at once, but Elche no longer had gasoline for much more and had to dedicate himself to not having trouble behind.
The team from Elche knew how to cut the game to the despair of a Celta who saw his moment interrupted and had to leave Martínez Valero with a minimum prize that gives little oxygen to Òscar García.
