CELTA 1 – VALENCIA 2 | Maxi Gómez sees the light in Vigo

People usually smile whenever we return to a place where we were happy. The simple nostalgia of remembering good times provides a dose of happiness. That happens to Maxi Gómez every time he steps on Balaídos. He punched those goals many times, so many that the networks know his punch perfectly. ANDThe Uruguayan was going through perhaps the worst moment of his career, without a goal or impact on offensive plays. It was to step on Vigo and light up. He was decisive in the equalizer by pressing Dituro to force the error and lethal in the winning goal, with an extraordinary movement, a perfect oriented control and a definition of the nine that shone so young in LaLiga.

What was lethal for Celta was the loss of Iago Aspas. The Moañés was injured in the action of the goal, a blow from which the team could not compensate. Balaídos went from merriment to panic in tenths of a second, as reflected in Brais’s face when Iago tells him in full celebration that he has been injured. The face of Méndez was a whole poem and so it happened to his companions.

Despite getting ahead on the scoreboard, the sky-blue ones again made the same mistakes as always. The chaos began with Dituro and Tapia, who lately are a caricature of who they were very recently. In the resumption those who erred were Kevin, with a bad control, and especially Araújo, who gives Maxi too much advantage to control inside the area. Enough to concede another goal due to their own demerits. And there are already too many.

Desperate

The passing of the minutes accommodated Valencia on the pitch. Maxi gave a master of nine pure, Gayà found a highway in his lane and Cillessen appeared at the decisive moments. The Dutch goalkeeper brought out a brilliant hand to deny Mina the goal and prevented a work of art from Brais. The mosense finished off with a spectacular Chilean, to which the goalkeeper responded with solvency. Celta continues to bleed out at home.
