MADRID, 20 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The midfielder of Real Madrid and the Spanish team Dani Ceballos confessed this Monday that he “would like to be a benchmark” in the current national team, under the command of the new coach, Luis de la Fuente, whom he sees as “the ideal coach to continue empowering” footballers in this new stage.
“There have been three years in which I have practically not had the opportunity to play with the national team. I come here with great enthusiasm and a lot of desire, I knew about my work and sacrifice, I knew that this opportunity would come to me again. It is time to live the experience to the fullest and enjoy on the field, which is the most important thing,” Ceballos said in statements published by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) media on social networks.
The man from Utrera played his last game with ‘La Roja’ in October 2020, with Luis Enrique Martínez on the bench, and now he returns to the national team at the hands of De la Fuente, with whom he has lived “one of the happiest moments ” of his career, with the European Sub-19 and Sub-21 as “great achievements”.
“I have known him for many years, he has a lot of character and is very emotional, for this type of team, with very young players, he could be the ideal coach to continue promoting these players of the highest quality,” he praised.
And the 26-year-old Real Madrid player does not run away from the ‘direction’ that Haro’s man could give him in this new team, as was the case in lower categories. “I don’t mind being one of the leaders, I would like to be a benchmark in this team, being a leader is one of the most beautiful things,” he acknowledged.
“We have an illusion that it is Euro 2024, and it starts on Saturday in Malaga, against a very young and very competitive team. We have a very good team to do great things,” Ceballos analyzed about the duel against the Norway of Erling Haaland, Alexander Sorloth or Martin Odegaard qualifying for the continental tournament.
Ceballos revealed that he lived “with a certain nerve” his inclusion in the new list during a training session with Real Madrid. “He knew that he was doing very well at Real Madrid, with minutes and that he had the confidence of the coach”, he said about his return to the “elite” of the team. “There is nothing bigger,” he sentenced.
