The Spanish Pablo Carreño Busta and the Australian Alex de Miñaur achieved this Friday the pass to the doubles final of the Masters 1,000 in Cincinnati by beating in the semifinal by 7-5 and 6-4 the couple formed by the Americans Steve Johnson and Austin Krajicek.
The duel between the couples that reached the box without being seeded, was always under the control of Carreño Busta and Minauer, who always imposed their best serve, hits from the back of the court and the coverage they did on the net.
In addition, in the exchange of blows, Carreño Busta was dominant with excellent placements of balls on the parallel lines that surpassed the American players when they were on the net of the Grandstand court of the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, in Flushing Meadows, where the tournament is played this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The rest of Carreño Busta and Minaur were also consistent and that made after an hour and two won the victory that allowed them to reach a Masters 1000 doubles final for the first time.
Their rivals in the final will be the winning pair of the semi-final match between the British Jamie Murray-Neal Skupski against the American Rajeev Ram and the English Joe Salisbury, third seeded.
