Carolina Marín withdraws from All England due to illness

The Spanish, under a feverish process, could not jump to the quarterfinal crossing this Friday in Birmingham

MADRID, 17 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish badminton player Carolina Marín was forced to withdraw this Friday from the prestigious All England Open, a Super 1,000 category tournament on the world circuit, before her quarterfinal duel, due to a “fever process”.

“Today I will not be able to play the quarterfinals due to a feverish process that I have been suffering for several days. The symptoms have worsened and I am not in a condition to play. Thank you for your support,” explained Marín herself on her Twitter account.

The three-time world champion and six-time European champion had an appointment with the South Korean An Se Young, current number two in the world ranking, in the quarterfinals, but was unable to jump onto the track. The woman from Huelva already suffered in her match on Thursday, with a lot of coughing between points and clear symptoms of discomfort.

The Olympic champion in Rio de Janeiro managed to overcome the American Beiwen Zhang 21-13 and 21-18, but the feverish process did not stop and prevented her from competing for a place in the semifinals of the tournament that she won in 2015 and which was dispute in Birmingham.
