The Spanish Carolina Marín could not access this Friday the semifinals of the Japan Open, of the Super 750 category of the badminton world circuit, when she fell to the South Korean An Se Young in three games (21-18, 13-21 and 21-17 ).
In this way, the woman from Huelva, as happened to her last week during the World Cup, could not overcome her third hurdle in the tournament and stayed in the quarterfinals, dropped by one of the rivals who is the current World Cup bronze medalist and the which precedes the Andalusian in the ranking.
Young was able to recover from a good start by the Spanish (3-0) and went on to dominate the first game with some clarity (6-11). Marín tried to react and managed to get to just one point in the decisive section (16-17), but the Asian held on and won the set.
The improvement of the triple world champion was transferred to a second game where she came out with great force and was able to dislodge the South Korean, whom she doubled on the opening score (10-5). Young was able to get back into the match and even things up (13-13), but Carolina Marín replied with eight straight points to take the duel to the third and decisive game.
