Carolina Marín says goodbye in the quarterfinals of the Japan Masters

MADRID, 17 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish player Carolina Marín said goodbye this Friday in the quarterfinals of the Japan Masters, which is held in Kumamoto, after losing clearly in two games (21-12 and 21-9) against the Chinese Yu Fei Chen , third favorite of the tournament, in a duel in which the Huelva player had no continuity.

Marín, current number five in the world and who had just made an epic comeback in the round of 16, started the duel disconnected with the semifinals at stake. In fact, she was only able to score one point from the first six of the match, against a Chinese player who has yet to lose a game in the Japan Masters.

That bad start hampered the Huelva player throughout the game, unable to reduce the disadvantage that she had from the beginning and with 14-11 Chen left definitively on the scoreboard, with a 5-0 run to later finish the first set by 21 -12.

Marín showed a more competitive version in the second game, matching the pace and intensity of the world number three. But with a tight 5-5 and everything to be decided, the Huelva native suffered another disconnection and conceded a lethal 10-0 partial that she could not overcome, reaching only 9 points in the second and final set. The Spaniard is already aiming for the China Masters, which will be held in Shenzhen from November 21 to 26.
