MADRID, 7 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish badminton player Carolina Marín qualified this Thursday for the quarterfinals of the China Open, in the BWF World Tour Super 1000 category and which is taking place in Changzhou, after beating the local player 21-9 and 21-16 Fang Jie Gao.
After 42 minutes of the match on Court 1 of the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Marín claimed victory without suffering excessively. During the first set, the woman from Huelva took the lead at all times on the scoreboard and reached her maximum advantage with that final 21-9.
At the start of the second set, the Andalusian quickly went up 3-0, but saw how her opponent turned the situation around with a 0-4 run. However, Marín recovered sensations and stretched the score to 15-8, which Gao found impossible to counter.
In the next round, the Spanish will play against the Taiwanese Tzu-ying Tai, executioner of the Chinese Yi Man Zhang (21-11 and 21-12). The last time Marín faced the Taiwanese was on August 25, with the Huelva triumph in the quarterfinals of the World Championship.
