Carmen Sevilla’s ashes, at risk of being thrown into “a kind of landfill”: 105 days later they are still in the funeral home

Now, it has emerged that, 105 days after her cremation, the ashes of the eternal figure of Spanish stage and song remain uncollected in the municipal funeral home of Pozuelo de Alarcón, where she was cremated.

“The normal thing is to collect them two days after incineration, although they have a deposit where after approximately a year they contact the relatives to see if they are going to collect them or, on the contrary, prefer that they be scattered in a type of landfill that the crematoriums,” says Pilar Vidal in ABC.

Only his son can directly collect the ashes since he signed all the permits for the cremation process, as confirmed to the journalist from the funeral home itself. Any other person can also collect them, but as long as they have Augusto’s authorization.

The light of Carmen Sevilla, consumed by Alzheimer’s, went out forever on June 27. The son of the former presenter of Neighborhood Cinema He received criticism for not opening a funeral chapel for his mother, as did other great figures of Spanish culture such as Rocío Jurado, Lola Flores or Sara Montiel. María Teresa Campos and María Jiménez have also been farewelled this summer with emotional and well-deserved recognition.

The artist left as discreetly as she has lived in recent years. In 2009 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, in 2010 she retired from public life and in 2015 she entered a nursing home, where she has remained until the end of her days. She died at the Fundación Jiménez Díaz University Hospital, where she was transferred just two days before her death.
