This Monday, September 25, the Campos family experienced one of the most difficult and emotional moments of their lives at the second funeral held in memory of Maria Teresa Camposwhich was held late in the afternoon at the Santa María de Caná Church in Pozuelo de Alarcón, on the outskirts of Madrid.
The acting President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezcould not attend, since this Tuesday the debate on the investiture of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and he was already focused on it. However, in the morning he received Terelu Campos and Carmen Borrego at the Moncloa Palace itself. The second reappeared this Tuesday at his new job and spoke about this meeting with the socialist leader at the official residence of the presidents of the Government.
“The president came to my mother’s funeral home. She was very proud of a photo she had with the president. I mentioned it to the president and he told me that he wanted to have it. He told us to go to Moncloa to have a coffee. It was immense with us and the things he told us about her were wonderful. He kept a copy because he was excited about it for his personal album. Mr. Sánchez spoke with great respect about my mother,” said Carmen, very proud on Telecinco.
Regarding his mother’s funeral, he also explained that it was a very emotional ceremony in which there was no shortage of tears and nostalgia for the great figure of communication. The altar was presided over by a photo of the Malaga communicator and during the funeral they sang Miguel Poveda y Tamara: “It seems unbelievable that 20 days have passed. The respect of so many people keeps us up there. The Church was full of people who respected her. It is still difficult for me to see her image. I feel very proud to be the daughter of María Teresa Campos,” Carmen said.
The family had a thorn in their side: that María Teresa had left without feeling the love and recognition she deserved. However, the immense support that the sisters have received after her death has shown the opposite: “At some point she thought that she had not been so important to many of our colleagues. This tribute will have made her rest comfortably and well,” Terelu’s sister has sentenced.
The journalist died at the age of 82 on September 5 after a year marked by her worsening health and the cognitive deterioration she suffered. María Teresa has left an indelible legacy in the field of communication and television. On Monday the 11th, her first funeral was held in Malaga, her beloved land. Numerous personalities attended this Monday the 25th: from Rocio Carrasco a José Luis Martínez Almeida and government representatives such as ministers Pilar Alegría, Isabel Rodriguez y Maria Jesus Montero.
