Carlos Tevez officially announced that he is definitely hanging up his boots

After putting his career on hiatus in May 2021, Carlos Tevez38, announced his final retirement from football with the phrase: “I’m already retired, it’s confirmed.”

“They always asked me why I stopped playing and one day I answered: because I lost my number one fan (his father passed away in February 2021). There was a silence. I was eight years old and the one who came to see me on the courts was him. What else for? So, I got up and said I don’t play anymore. It was the only time I thought of myself”, expressed the ‘Apache’ in a television interview for America TV with tears in her eyes.

Explaining the decision made when he decided to close his third stage in Boca Juniors, Tevez stated: “My last year playing was very hard because he was brain dead. I wake up one day and tell Vane (his wife): ‘I don’t play anymore’. I call him in the afternoon Adrián Ruocco (his representative) and I tell him: ‘Look, I’m not going to play anymore. I retire’. I call it Riquelme at night and I tell him: ‘Tomorrow I need the club to do the conference. I don’t play anymore’. Then came what came, I didn’t play anymore and that’s when the family realized that I didn’t play anymore. That’s where they fell.”

Carlos Tevez scored for the last time in May 2021 in a classic against River Plate for the League Cup. Just two weeks later, he confirmed his removal from the courts due to family issues at a press conference.

“As a player, I already gave everything I had. Inside my heart, I gave everything, and that leaves me alone. Everything was there, we’ll see. They offered me many things. had an offer on USA, but it was a very important change for my family. In Argentina there were also proposals on a lot of sides… but that’s it,” confirmed the former soccer player for Boca Juniors, Corinthians, West Han, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus and Shanghai Shenhua.

Regarding your future, Tevez he clarified: “I am enthusiastic about a project that I am doing with my brothers and with ‘Chapa’ Retegui. I made the decision that I am going to lead. We have been working for four or five months, putting together a good and comprehensive project. I’m thinking about that. I think of the work focused on the human side of the player, on the personal part”.

Tevez, with 30 titles, is the fourth most successful Argentine player in history behind Lionel Messi (40), Angel Di Maria (32) and Luis ‘Lucho’ Gonzalez (31).
