Carlos Sainz: “The podium lasted me a second”

MADRID, 27 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) confessed that fifth place in the Dutch Grand Prix was the most they could hope for, after “a very tough race” in which everyone was faster than the car red.

“It has been a very tough race, we have been fighting the whole race with cars that were much faster than us. Even so, we have remained in the fight, we have not made any mistakes, we have succeeded with the strategy and we have fought for a fifth position that there was no more this weekend,” he said in statements to Dazn.

The Spaniard is confident that he will have a good weekend at the home GP, but he was once again annoyed with the lack of speed in his car. “In Monza I hope we will go well again. This has been a damage limit weekend, we have both suffered a lot. Trying to learn why we have been so slow, how can it be that everyone is faster than us. But I am confident in Monsa,” he said.

“I had to defend myself against Hamilton, with an intermediate used in the last one. The podium lasted me a second, there was no rhythm for the podium, I tried but there was nowhere to catch it. We were going slower and degrading more”, he finished .
