Carlos Sainz: “I’ve never found the rhythm in the wet and I’ve had to make do”

MADRID, 2 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) has recognized that he has not been able to find “the rhythm in the wet” during the Singapore Grand Prix and has explained that not having been able to count on that “additional confidence” he has had to settle for finishing third, although he was pleased to have been “faster” in the final stretch of the race.

“I never found the rhythm in the wet, and then I couldn’t put up a fight with the top two because I had problems with the rear of the car. In these conditions, when you don’t have that extra confidence, you have to settle for that third place,” he explained after the appointment in Marina Bay.

However, the man from Madrid was positive with his performance. “The good thing is that I didn’t make any mistakes, I was able to finish the race and I was able to be fast at the end of the race, when I gained confidence. It’s a good result for the team in the Constructors’ World Championship, although it’s a shame not to to have achieved victory,” he said.

In another order of things, Sainz stressed how difficult the Singaporean track was. “It’s crazy how long it took to dry. We kept doing laps and the dry line never appeared, in some places it kept sliding a lot. It’s something to remember in the future, this track is unique in that aspect,” he concluded.
